Terms of Use
Effective date: 13 October 2026
Welcome to Hobin. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and Goh Jin Wei, the operator of Hobin (“Hobin”, “we”, “us” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the Hobin mobile application, the website at hobin.app, and any related features, content and services (together, the “Service”).
Please read these Terms carefully, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms. By creating an account, ticking the box confirming that you have read and agree to these Terms, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Definitions
In these Terms:
- “Session” means an activity, gathering or meetup listed on the Service by a user, whether in person or online.
- “Host” means a user who creates or manages a Session.
- “Attendee” means a user who joins, asks to join, or takes part in a Session.
- “User Content” means anything you post, upload, send or otherwise make available through the Service, including profile details, photos, Session details, messages, reviews and reports.
- “Kaki” means another user you connect with through the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms;
- you are not prohibited from using the Service under any applicable law;
- you have not previously had an account suspended or removed by us, unless we have expressly allowed you to return; and
- you have not been convicted of, and are not subject to any court order relating to, any violent or sexual offence.
We may ask you to confirm your eligibility at any time, and we may suspend or close any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone who is not eligible.
3. Your account
You may create an account using a supported sign-in provider, such as Google or Apple. You agree to:
- provide accurate, current and complete information, and keep it up to date;
- use your real identity and a photo that genuinely represents you, and not impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
- keep your sign-in credentials and devices secure, and not share your account with anyone else; and
- notify us promptly at hobin.tsd@gmail.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You may hold only one account. Your display name is set when you create your account and may not be changeable afterwards. You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
4. The nature of the Service
Hobin is an online platform that helps people discover and connect with others who share their interests, so that they can arrange activities together. The Service provides tools for listing Sessions, finding Sessions on a map, requesting to join, chatting with other participants and connecting with kakis.
We are not an organiser, operator, promoter, sponsor, venue, employer or agent of any Session or user. We do not plan, host, supervise, attend, control or take part in any Session, and we are not a party to any agreement, arrangement or understanding between users. Any Session, meetup or interaction that results from the Service is arranged solely between the users involved, at their own discretion and risk.
5. Sessions and meetups
Hosts create and manage their own Sessions and decide who may join. Attendees decide which Sessions to join. We do not guarantee that any Session will take place as described, at the time or place listed, or at all, or that any user will attend.
Information shown about a Session, including its title, description, date, time, location, number of places and participants, is provided by users and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Locations shown on the map, including approximate areas, are provided for convenience only. You should independently confirm the details of any Session before relying on them.
To keep the Service fair and to prevent misuse, we may apply limits and rules to Sessions, for example on how many upcoming Sessions a user may host at one time, how far in advance a Session may be scheduled, and whether a user may join Sessions that overlap in time. We may change these limits at any time.
6. No background checks
We do not conduct criminal record checks, identity verification, background checks or screening of any user, and we do not inspect, approve or vouch for any venue. We do not verify the identity, age, character, intentions, qualifications, skills, health or fitness of any user, or the accuracy of anything users say about themselves.
Profile information, ratings, reviews, “Good kaki” endorsements and any other signals shown on the Service come from users. They are not endorsements, guarantees or recommendations by us, and you should not rely on them as such. You are solely responsible for deciding whether to interact with, communicate with or meet any user.
7. Your safety
Your safety is your responsibility. Before and during any Session, you should take reasonable precautions, including:
- meeting in public, well-lit places, especially for the first time;
- telling a friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting and when you expect to return;
- arranging your own transport, and keeping your phone charged and with you;
- never sharing financial information, passwords or one-time passcodes, and never sending money to someone you have met through the Service;
- trusting your instincts, and leaving any situation in which you feel uncomfortable; and
- contacting the emergency services (in Singapore, police 999 or ambulance 995) if you are in danger.
Further guidance is available in our Safety Centre. Following this guidance does not guarantee your safety.
8. Physical activities and assumption of risk
Many Sessions involve sport, exercise, outdoor recreation or other physical activity. These activities carry inherent risks that cannot be eliminated, including the risk of injury, illness, disability, loss of or damage to property, and in rare cases death. Risks may arise from the activity itself, the condition of a venue or equipment, the weather, and the acts or omissions of other participants or third parties.
By hosting, joining or taking part in any Session, you acknowledge and agree that:
- you take part voluntarily and entirely at your own risk;
- you are responsible for ensuring that you are medically and physically fit to take part, and for seeking medical advice where appropriate;
- you are responsible for using suitable clothing, footwear and protective equipment, and for following venue rules and the instructions of venue staff;
- you will not take part while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if doing so would put you or others at risk; and
- you are responsible for arranging any insurance you consider appropriate.
9. Responsibilities of hosts
If you host a Session, you agree to:
- describe the Session honestly and accurately, including the activity, the expected level, the location, any costs to be shared, and any equipment needed;
- make sure the Session and its location are lawful, and obtain any booking, permit or permission required for the venue;
- keep the Session details up to date, and promptly edit or cancel the Session if plans change;
- treat all Attendees fairly and respectfully, and not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age;
- not charge Attendees any fee for joining, other than a fair, clearly stated share of actual costs such as court or venue fees, unless we expressly allow it; and
- not use Sessions to advertise, sell, recruit for or promote any business, product, scheme or cause without our written permission.
Any arrangement to share costs is solely between the Host and the Attendees. We do not process, hold, guarantee or refund any payment between users.
10. Responsibilities of attendees
If you join a Session, you agree to:
- turn up on time, or cancel or leave the Session as early as possible if you can no longer attend;
- respect the Host, the other Attendees, the venue and any rules that apply;
- pay any cost share you have agreed with the Host; and
- take part only in activities that are within your ability and fitness.
11. Community standards and prohibited conduct
You must follow our Community Guidelines at all times, both on the Service and at any Session. In particular, you must not:
- harass, threaten, stalk, bully, intimidate, abuse or harm any person;
- engage in sexual harassment, send unwanted sexual content, or use the Service to seek sexual encounters;
- post or send content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, violent or misleading, or that infringes anyone’s rights;
- impersonate any person, create fake or duplicate accounts, or misrepresent your identity, age or intentions;
- scam, defraud or solicit money, gifts or financial information from other users;
- advertise, spam, run promotions or solicit business without our written permission;
- collect, store, publish or share other users’ personal data, including their location, without their consent;
- arrange or take part in any illegal activity, including the sale or use of illegal drugs, or gambling that is not permitted by law;
- involve anyone under 18 in the Service;
- interfere with, disrupt, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its systems or other users’ accounts;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or create derivative works of the Service, or use automated means to access it, except as permitted by law; or
- use the Service in any way that breaches these Terms or any applicable law.
12. Messages and communications
The Service lets members of a Session chat in a group, and lets connected users send direct messages. Group chats are visible to the Host and the approved Attendees of a Session. To reduce spam and unwanted contact, we may restrict who can message whom and how often, for example by limiting messages to people you share a Session or connection with.
Group chats close after a Session has ended and no messages have been sent for a period of time. Closed chats are removed from the Service and their messages are deleted after a further period, as described in our Privacy Policy. You should not rely on the Service to store messages permanently.
13. User content
You own the User Content you create. By posting or sending User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for example, resize or compress) and distribute it, solely for the purposes of operating, providing, securing and improving the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content has been shared with others, is needed to investigate a report or a breach, or must be kept by law.
You represent and warrant that you have all rights needed to post your User Content, that it is accurate where it relates to you, and that it does not breach these Terms, our Community Guidelines or any law. You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of sharing it. We do not endorse any User Content and are not responsible for it, but we may review, remove or restrict any User Content at any time.
14. Reports, moderation and enforcement
You can report users, Sessions and messages, and block other users, through the Service. We review reports and may take any action we consider appropriate, including removing content, cancelling Sessions, issuing warnings, and suspending or permanently closing accounts. We may act with or without notice, and we are not obliged to explain our decisions where doing so could compromise safety or an investigation.
We do not monitor all activity on the Service and cannot guarantee that we will detect or prevent harmful conduct, or respond to any report within a particular time. Where we believe there is a risk of harm, or where the law requires it, we may share information with the police or other authorities.
15. Location features
The Service uses location information to show Sessions near you, to place Session pins, and, if you turn them on, to send you alerts about nearby Sessions. Hosts can choose to show an exact spot or an approximate area. Maps, addresses, place names and directions are provided by third parties and may be inaccurate. You are responsible for checking a location before you travel to it, and for deciding what location information you share.
16. Notifications
With your permission, we send push notifications about activity relevant to you, such as join requests, approvals, messages, reminders and changes to Sessions you are part of. You can change your notification preferences in the app or in your device settings. Notifications may be delayed or not delivered, and you should not rely on them for time-critical or safety-critical information.
17. Third-party services
The Service relies on, and may link to, services provided by third parties, including sign-in providers, mapping and address services, app stores, hosting and notification providers. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, their content or their availability.
18. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos and the Hobin name and brand, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to download and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use of the Service. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you agree that we may use them freely, without any obligation to you.
19. Fees and future features
The Service is currently free to use. We may introduce optional paid features or subscriptions in the future. If we do, we will tell you the price and terms before you buy, and any purchase will also be subject to the terms of the relevant app store. Features that are free today will not be withdrawn and offered back to you as paid features without notice.
20. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal data, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your personal data will be handled as described in the Privacy Policy, in accordance with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012.
21. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties, representations or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Without limiting the above, we do not warrant or represent that:
- the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, free of errors or viruses, or available on any particular device;
- any information on the Service, including Session details, locations and user profiles, is accurate, complete or reliable;
- any Session will take place, be safe, or meet your expectations; or
- any user is who they claim to be, or will behave lawfully or appropriately.
22. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, illness or death arising out of or in connection with any Session or meetup, your attendance at or participation in any activity, or your interactions with any other user or third party, whether online or offline;
- we are not liable for the conduct, statements, content or omissions of any user or third party;
- we are not liable for any loss or corruption of data, or for any interruption, suspension or discontinuation of the Service; and
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss or damage, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, opportunity or anticipated savings,
in each case however arising, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Where a limitation is held to be unenforceable, it applies to the maximum extent the law allows.
23. Release
Any dispute you have with another user, including about a Session, a meetup, a cost share, property, or anyone’s conduct, is solely between you and that user. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release us, and our affiliates, officers, employees, contractors and agents, from all claims, demands, losses and damages of every kind, known or unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with such disputes, or with the acts or omissions of any other user or third party. We may, but are not obliged to, help resolve disputes between users.
24. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless us, and our affiliates, officers, employees, contractors and agents, from and against any claims, actions, demands, liabilities, losses, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) brought by any third party or arising out of or in connection with:
- your use of the Service, or any Session you host, join or take part in;
- your User Content;
- your conduct towards any other user or person, whether online or offline; or
- your breach of these Terms or of any law, or your infringement of any third party’s rights.
25. Suspension, termination and account deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time, and you can delete your account in the app or by following the steps on our account deletion page. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and associated data as described in our Privacy Policy, subject to any information we must keep for safety, legal or enforcement purposes.
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Service, or remove any of your content or Sessions, at any time and without liability, if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms or our Community Guidelines, that your conduct may harm other users, us or third parties, or that we are required to do so by law. If your account is closed for a breach, you must not create a new account without our permission.
Sections 6 to 8, 11, 13 and 21 to 28, and any other provision which by its nature should continue, survive the end of these Terms.
26. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We are continually developing the Service, and we may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know through the Service or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The updated Terms will show a new effective date. If you continue to use the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
27. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, form the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, and replace any earlier agreements or understandings.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce any right or provision of these Terms, that will not be treated as a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may transfer ours, including to a company or other entity that operates the Service in future, and we will tell you if we do.
- No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship between you and us.
- Third-party rights. A person who is not a party to these Terms has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 to enforce any of its terms, except as expressly stated in these Terms.
- Events outside our control. We are not responsible for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Notices. We may send you notices through the Service or to the contact details linked to your account. You may send notices to us at hobin.tsd@gmail.com.
28. Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Service, are governed by the laws of Singapore. Before starting any formal proceedings, you agree to contact us first at hobin.tsd@gmail.com so that we can try to resolve the matter informally. If it cannot be resolved within 30 days, the courts of Singapore will have exclusive jurisdiction.
29. Contact us
